O General Usage

The menus should be self explaining. Below you find descriptions of all tabs.

O Illegal MIME Types   Tab: Illegal

Here you can start a search for illegal MIME types on all your mounted volumes. Not only filetypes can be checked, also application signatures and supported types of applications. Don't forget to press the right button on list entries to get a context sensitive menu

The checkboxes and buttons here have the following meaning:

[Check for illegal MIME types] Starts searching for illegal MIME types on the volumes you have selected in the lower right list. This one only appears if no search is running
[Stop checking] Stops searching. This one only appears if a search is running
[X] Check Supported Types If checked, supported types of applications are checked.
[X] Check Application Signature If checked, the signature of applications is checked.
[X] Case Sensitive If checked, types are checked case sensitive.
[X] Auto Identify If checked, files with no type gonna be examined and identified if possible.
[X] Auto Conversion If checked, every MIME type that is considered to be wrong is tried to be converted according the rules in the Autoconversion-list first. At the moment Supported Types and Application Signatures are not converted

O Registered MIME Types   Tab: Registered

Here you have a list of registered MIME types hosted at ftp.isi.edu. You can easily update them by simply pressing the update button.

O Auto Conversion   Tab: Auto Conversion

Here you get the conversion list. It should be pretty obvious how to edit the list. Illegal types are drawn in red color. Red colored types in the left column are normal, as you want to convert illegal types to legal types. So no need to worry then. But be sure you don't have red colored types in the right column. At the moment this list is only used to convert illegal types found by this tool.
