Haiku system audio mixer
Version: 0.4
License: MIT
Sourcecode: available
Description
This is a prerelease of the Haiku system audio mixer.
Haiku is an open source project which aims to replace BeOS R5.
One part of the BeOS media kit is the system audio mixer, and
you just downloaded the one that will be used with Haiku.
This file is made available to you as an opportunity to test upcoming features.
It can be tested with BeOS R5 or Zeta. Compared to the BeOS R5 system audio mixer
it offers interesting options for owners of a supported multi channel audio card,
as it supports more than just stereo connections!
Installation
Installation can be done on BeOS R5 or Zeta by moving the mixer.media_addon
file into the drop mixer.media_addon here
folder, and restarting
Media Services using the Media preferences application. When using Zeta, it
is recommended to download, install and use Haiku media preferences.
Known problems with Zeta
Unfortunately, as of today 2005-01-23, the Media preference application of
Zeta (tested with Zeta RC4 including Service Pack 1) is broken. The window
is too small, so that the complete mixer preferences won't be visible. There
are also no scrollbars to compensate this displayed. The mixer sliders do not update when changing
the volume in another application. Switching balance controls on or off doesn't
work. Finally, the input and output remapping tabs are not displayed when enabling
or disabling them, until you quit and restart preferences.
If you are using Zeta, you should download and use Haiku media preferences.
Known problems with BeOS R5
When enabling or disabling input/output remapping, or balance controls,
the Gain Controls tab will be selected automatically.
Other known problems
Input and output remapping selections are not saved.
How to remove
If you don't want to use it anymore, simply delete it and restart
Media Services using the Media preferences application.
The file to delete is located in /boot/home/config/add-ons/media
and is named mixer.media_addon
.
